BiographyDavid Sievers, born in '75, Mülheim an der Ruhr, figures out pretty late that the drumset is his instrument, when he at the age of 17 asks a friend for a drum kit and gets a gig with a school band. "Cash payment" is the band he takes the first steps with, playing quite a few well attended local gigs.
His huge interest in a lot of different styles and also in P.A. technique leads to gigs either as a live- and studio drummer or as a sound engineer with all kinds of bands, entertainers and musicians like e.g. Manni Franzkowiak (Wolfgang Petry, Tom Astor,...), Jan Rohlfing (Peter Bursch, Elisabeth, AIDA, Starlight Express, Les Miserables, Joseph,...), Franz Schneider (Andy Borg,...), Rock Solo (Oberhausen), Flieger (Wuppertal), Virgins-Live (Düsseldorf/Hagen), Très Hombres (Dortmund), dlg (Düsseldorf).
As a stage hand David also works for: Doro Pesch (Warlock), Dave Weckl (Chick Corea, Steely Dan), René Creemers (Blowbeat), Marco Minnemann (H-Blockx, Modern Drummer Festival), Mark Schulman (Foreigner, Simple Minds, Cher, Billy Idol), Wolf Simon (Klaus Lage, Purple Schulz, T.M. Stevens, Tabaluga), Virgil Donati, Udo Dahmen, Ricky Lawson (Steely Dan, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton), Randy Hansen, Manni von Bohr, etc.
After 18 month intensive studying at the worldwide known and well respected "school of audio engineering" (SAE), he opens up his own studio at the Drummers Institute / Düsseldorf, featuring a concert and musician agency (amongst other) under the name K-A-P (klangsoeldner audio productions).
Due to his approach and technical knowledge beyerdynamic and "k.t.e. musical instruments" ask him to take part in developing a new microphone series.
From 1999 on he also teaches drums at the "Drummers Institute", which the "Modern Drummer" magazine calls "one of the finest schools in Europe" also a well known school for all sorts of drums and percussion instruments.
There, David has a very special working relation with "the pope of German drumming" (Modern Drummer) Manni von Bohr (head of "drums&percussion magazine", "Fachblatt", drummer of guitar wizard Randy Hansen, Alex Oriental Experience, Birthcontrol,...), for who David engineers almost every appearance on tour or for workshops, like on the international Frankfurt music fair.
Certainly a highlight in his career as a drummer is the more then half a year lasting tour with Henner Hoier (The Rivets, The Rattles, Les Humpfreys Singers; Musical "Only You") followed by another very special commitment: nobody less then Albie Donnelly asks David to join the legendary "Supercharge" for another half a year experience. Meanwhile, he still finds time to play with local Bands like Starbux and Outback ? and as if all that would not be enough he also takes over the booking for these bands.
Fall 2000 Seattle-born guitar player Randy Hansens offers him to join him on several European wide tours as an engineer.
April 2001 David joins the newcomer sensation from Düsseldorf, Strangeland, as a drummer and records "When does the fun start? " an album presented by WOM (World of Music). The nationwide magazine "Biograph" calls "Wdtfs" the best release 2001.
While David joins another Band ("WILD!"), who not just impress? by their enormous musicality, but also their intensive stage action, he still finds time to sub in several cover bands and also to do a large number of workshops in schools in Mülheim and Duisburg, explaining and showing the drumset as a musical instrument.
By moving to Essen into nice new rooms, he can improve his recording and production facilities tremendously, now by the help of to new partners.
April 2003 the tour of "metal queen" Doro Pesch (Warlock) is engineered by David. This is another major step into international touring business as FOH engineer and tour manager.
Since then "beyerdynamic" supports his work with different bands like Threshold and Angelo Kelly.
End of 2004 the preparation for DJ Bobos Pirates Of Dance Tour in 2005 begins and gives David the chance to work in the biggest arenas of Germany and Switzerland. Angelo Kelly from "The Kelly Family" takes him on the road for his "Pianodrums" tour what has also been recorded for DVD publishing in 2006, mixed by David.
2007 he also works for "Boom Box" magazine as sound engineer for live recordings and interviews.
In 2007 a DVD with the title "Miking Drums" by pope of German drumming ("modern drummer magazine") Manni von Bohr and David beeing released worldwide.
Together with "Westfälisches Filmkontor" he finally combines audio and video as perfect as it gets!
